The Sycuan Band of the Kumeyaay Nation will be able to offer gaming at two locations under a new Class III compact. The agreement authorizes the tribe to offer a total of 2,500 slot machines. Since the Sycuan Casino already has 2,000, the 500 machines can be installed at the Sycuan Resort a few miles away, KPBS reported. According to the compact, the focus at the second facility must be on something "other than gaming." And the second facility must already be located on "eligible Indian lands," the agreement states. The Sycuan Resort meets both conditions, KPBS reported. It's located within reservation boundaries and features a golf course and a hotel. The agreement awaits ratification in the California Legislature. Once approved there, it can be sent to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for review. Get the Story:
