The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina will open a second gaming facility on September 28.

The $110 million Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino and Hotel is located near the town of Murphy. The 125,000 square-foot facility features a 50,000 square-foot gaming floor and a seven-story hotel with 301 rooms.

The tribe already operates the Harrah's Cherokee Casino Resort, a much larger facility, about an hour away. The market depends largely on out-of-state visitors from Georgia and Tennessee, where gaming options are limited.

The tribe hopes to draw more customers from those states with the new casino, outgoing Chief Michell Hicks told the Associated Press.
