The Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians in California is making changes to its casino in preparation of a grand reopening. The Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino shut down last October due to a leadership dispute on the reservation. Chief operating officer Christian Goode is promising a more exciting experience once the doors reopen. "I think the best way to say it is it’s a new day here," Goode told The Sierra Sun. "It’s a new day from a patron experience and an employee experience. We want the culture to be very positive. We’re doing everything we can to facilitate that." Goode said the entire 56,000 square-foot is being revamped, with more slot machines being added. All of the restaurants will reopen, although two former eateries are being converted for other uses. Goode is new to the facility so he said he doesn't know much about the dispute that led to the closure last year. The tribe is working with the state and the National Indian Gaming Commission to resolve the matter. Goode has said he hopes to reopen the casino sometime this month. Get the Story:
