Lawmakers in California ratified a new Class III gaming compact for the United Auburn Indian Community only three weeks after Gov. Jerry Brown (D) announced the deal. AB 315, a bill to ratify the compact, cleared the state Senate and the state Assembly following a favorable reception in both chambers. A key provision requires the tribe to pay revenues into the Indian Gaming Revenue Sharing Trust Fund, which benefits local communities and tribes without large casinos, rather than the state's general fund. Brown announced the compact on August 14. Once he signs AB315, the agreement can be sent to the Bureau of Indian Affairs for review. Brown will be announcing more compacts in the coming weeks, The Sacramento Bee said in an editorial. Get the Story:
