Ak-Chin Indian Community announces $100M casino expansion

The Ak-Chin Indian Community of Arizona will be undertaking a $100 million expansion of its casino.

The Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino will see another 200 hotel rooms, a spa, restaurants, a new ballroom, more conference center space and a parking garage. Work is expected to being in the spring of 2016.

"The expansion will allow the hotel and casino to continue to bring quality hospitality and entertainment to Pinal County and the state of Arizona,” Chairman Louis Manuel said in the latest issue of the Ak-Chin O'odham Runner, the tribe's newspaper. “We have long-known the importance of providing opportunities like this to our Community and the surrounding areas.”

The facility opened in December 1994. The tribe added a $20 million hotel with 300 rooms in July 2011 and an entertainment center in 2012.
