Connecticut's two federally-recognized tribes reported increases in slot machine revenues for the month of June.

The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation saw revenue of $38.6 million at the Foxwoods Resort Casino. That's up 2.4 percent from the $37.7 million in June 2014.

The Mohegan Tribe saw $45.3 million at the Mohegan Sun. That was 3.1 percent higher than the $45.3 million from June 2014.

The results represent a bright spot for both tribes, whose slot revenues have slowly declined after the 2008 national economic recession. The tribes are also facing more competition from gaming facilities in New York and Massachusetts.

The two tribes plan to open a new facility near the Massachusetts border in order to keep more gaming dollars at home.
