First Nations in Saskatchewan continue to see growth at their gaming facilities. The Saskatchewan Indian Gaming Authority reported $256.5 million in revenues in the last fiscal year. Profits were $84.1 million. “SIGA has a vision to deliver sustainable net income and employment opportunities to support First Nations economic development in Saskatchewan," Chief Reginald Bellerose, the chair of the authority's board said in a press release. "This vision comes alive through the SIGA employees who sincerely believe in their work and the difference they are making in their communities." Of the $84.1 million in profits, 50 percent is allocated for the First Nations Trust, which in turn is distributed to all First Nations in Saskatchewan. Another 25 percent goes to host communities and the remaining 25 percent goes to the province. “Despite maturing industry conditions, I am pleased to report our fourth straight year of net earnings above $80M,” said Zane Hansen, SIGA President and CEO. “Each year we continue to invest in our people, product and facilities to bring the best possible entertainment experience to our customers." SIGA operates a total of six Native casinos. Get the Story:
