The Confederated Tribes of Coos, Lower Umpqua and Siuslaw Indians in Oregon will open a new Class II facility next week.

The local media previously reported an April opening for the $15 million Three Rivers Casino in Coos Bay. But now the tribe has confirmed an official ribbon-cutting for May 7.

"What we were trying to do was a locals' casino," former chairman Bob Garcia, who helped launch the project, told The Coos Bay World.

The new establishment at 1297 Ocean Blvd NW is less than 3 miles from the Mill Casino, a Class III facility owned by the Coquille Tribe.
