The Seminole Tribe of Florida gained local approval to erect a new hotel tower at one of its casinos although the project has not been finalized.

The tribe might add a 1.2-million square-foot hotel with 537 rooms to the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel in Tampa. The Hillsborough County Airport Authority approved a variance for the project, which would reach 16 floors, on Thursday.

"It’s unclear in terms of if and when and whether this may even happen,” spokesperson Gary Bitner told The Tampa Tribune. “What we presented to the airport authority was a ‘what if’ scenario in order to determine if the height requirement was even possible.”

The hotel would include some additional gaming space. Preliminary plan also call for a parking lot with 450 space.
