President Barack Obama has once again nominated Jonodev Chaudhuri to serve as chairman of the National Indian Gaming Commission.
Chaudhuri is a member of the Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma. He serves as vice chair of the NIGC and has served as acting chair because the agency has been without a Senate-confirmed leader since September 2013.
The Senate Indian Affairs Committee held a confirmation hearing for Chaudhuri last November. Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana), who was chairman at the time, promised action on the nomination but that didn't happen before the end of the 113th Congress. The 114th Congress is now in Republican hands and but Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyoming) will serve as chairman of the committee. He's yet to announce business meetings or hearings. Related Stories:Sen.
