The Morongo Band of Mission Indians in California opened its $250 million gaming facility 10 years ago today. The Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, located off a major highway, stands 27 stories. It is still the tallest building in Riverside County. “I’m still struck by the sight of the tower rising against the backdrop of mountains in the morning,” Chairman Robert Martin told The Riverside Press-Enterprise. The tribe employs about 3,000 people at the facility, the paper said. The annual payroll is $60 million. Get the Story:
