The Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians shared $689,660 in gaming revenues with the local community, an amount that has been steadily declining over the years.

Under a consent decree, the tribe shares 2 percent of slot machine revenues with government units, including public schools. Distributions occur twice a year -- in the winter and the summer.

The latest amount is lower than the $754,232 that the tribe shared in August 2013. And it's lower than the $788,441 from August 2012.

The tribe typically shares more during its winter distribution. In February, the amount was $909,295 -- lower than the $947,754 in February 2013 and lower than the $958,867 in February 2012.

Since distributions began in 1994, the tribe has shared $32.3 million with local governments. More information can be found at Grand Traverse County's website.
