The Snoqualmie Tribe of Washington is suing to recover $1.5 million that was invested in a troubled casino project on the island nation of Fiji. The tribal council visited Fiji in December 2011 and agreed to help finance the One Hundred Sands casino. But the project remains behind schedule despite promises from the developer. “Our goal with this lawsuit is to recover the money...so that it can be used to benefit our tribal members here at home,” Chairwoman Carolyn Lubenau told The Snoqualmie Valley Record. The Fijian government is investigating the casino license but a top official said the probe has nothing to do with the tribe's lawsuit, which was filed in state court in Washington. Get the Story:
