The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut has been ordered to pay $92,344 to a casino patron.

Chief Judge Paul Guernsey of the Mohegan Gaming Disputes Court said a tribal officer used excessive force against Jerry D'Ambra Jr. for an incident at Mohegan Sun. D'Ambra had to undergo surgery and required extensive physical therapy for damage to his knee.

"It was a very serious injury," D'Ambra's attorney, Mary Puhlick, told the Associated Press. "I think under the circumstances it was the right result. My client is happy with the result."

The tribe is considering an appeal to the Gaming Disputes Court of Appeals, the highest court for gaming cases on the reservation.
