The Seminole Tribe is celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. The facility opened its doors on May 11, 2004. At first, only Class II games were offered but the casino was an immediate hit. "The technology here led to the boom of Class II slots at Indian casinos nationwide," Jim Allen, the CEO of Seminole Gaming and chairman of Hard Rock International, told The South Florida Sun-Sentinel. In 2007 the tribe bought the entire Hard Rock franchise for $965 million. That same year, the tribe signed a Class III gaming compact with revenue sharing provisions, a first in the state. "It very clearly is a destination," Nicki Grossman, president of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Convention and Visitors Bureau, told the Sun-Sentinel. "Their occupancy is higher than any other hotel in the county, and there's a lot of brand loyalty with the name Hard Rock just like there is for Hyatt or Hilton." Get the Story:
