The Seneca Nation of New York is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its reservation casino.

The Seneca Allegany Casino and Hotel opened in May 2004. The Class III facility employs more than 1,000 people in full-time and part-time positions.

“This property in my mind is the gem in the middle of one of the most beautiful regions of this country,” Cathy Walker, the CEO of Seneca Gaming Corporation, told The Salamanca Press. “When you come here, it’s a full resort experience.”

The tribe operates two Class III facilities off the reservation and is proposing another one near Rochester. A Class II facility on the Oil Spring Territory will open in July.
