The Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma broke ground on an $80 million casino. The facility in Roland was the tribe's first gaming operation. It hasn't been updated since its opening in 1990. “This was our first gaming facility. It is in bad need of growth," Chief Bill John Baker said at the groundbreaking, The Cherokee Phoenix reported. The new Cherokee Casino & Hotel Roland will feature an 170,000 square-foot casino and a 120-room hotel with convention center space and meeting rooms. The tribe will create 100 new jobs, bringing the total workforce to more than 400. Get the Story:
