The Menominee Nation is disputing claims that Wisconsin's gaming market is saturated. Tribal gaming in the state grew just 1.6 percent in 2012, according to Casino City’s Indian Gaming Industry Report. Between 2007 and 2012, revenues fell 3 percent but the Menominee Nation notes that the U.S. was in an economic recession for most of that time. “It didn’t matter in 2007, 2008, 2009 – no matter what industry you looked at, whether it was housing, the automobile industry, whether it was dairy exports - all businesses were suffering through the recession," Michael Beightol, a spokesperson for the $800 million casino in Kenosha told WXPR. The Forest County Potawatomi Community, however, claims the report shows that a new casino won't do much for the economy in the state. The tribe operates an off-reservation casino in Milwaukee, about 40 miles from Kenosha. Get the Story:
