The Catawba Nation cannot offer video poker on its reservation, the South Carolina Supreme Court ruled today.

The tribe argued that it is entitled to same types of gaming allowed in the state. But the court ruled that video poker is barred by state law even though gambling cruises that offer the game are allowed to leave the state's ports.

‘Under any interpretation, the Gambling Cruise Act does not authorize the utilization of video poker devices anywhere in the state’s territorial limits, be it on land or within the state’s territorial waters," the decision stated.
