Mohegan Tribe wants casino host to receive more gaming funds

The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut says the town that hosts its casino should received a bigger share of gaming revenues.

Under the Class III gaming compact, the tribe shares 25 percent of slot machine revenues with the state. The state distributes the money to communities based on a formula that doesn't take into account the impact of Mohegan Sun on the town of Montville.

The town received $2.9 million in 2008, prior to the recession. Due to declining revenues at the casino, the amount fell to $1.5 million in 2013 and it will drop to $1.1 million next year.
