The Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation of Connecticut hasn't decided whether to pursue a commercial casino in Massachusetts.

This summer, the tribe announced plans to bid on the sole license in southeastern Massachusetts. But the tribe's new gaming executive won't say whether that's still on the table.

"I've been more focused on things that we have to do in this property," CEO Felix Rappaport told The Hartford Courant, referring to the Foxwoods Resort Casino on the tribe's reservation in Connecticut.

The tribe tried for a license in the eastern region of Massachusetts but voters rejected the project. That's when the tribe started looking at the southeast.

Rappaport said will need some time to study the issue before giving a "firm answer" on the project, the Courant reported. He started his new position at Foxwoods last week.

The phase one application is due January 30, 2015, the Massachusetts Gaming Commission said in a press release.
