Man pleads guilty to domestic abuse at Meskwaki Tribe casino

A member of the Sac and Fox Nation of Oklahoma pleaded guilty in connection with a domestic violence incident at the casino owned by the Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa.

Enrique Rhodd Ashley, 31, pleaded to charges of 2nd offense domestic abuse assault and false imprisonment, The Tama News-Herald reported. He admitted he assaulted his girlfriend at the Meskwaki Bingo Casino and was sentenced to suspended prison terms and was placed on self-supervised probation, according to the paper.

The incident occurred on August 9, during the same weekend as the 100th annual Meskwaki Powwow. Ashley lives in Oklahoma and it appears he traveled to Iowa for the event

The Sac and Fox Nation and the Meskwaki Tribe descend from the historic Sac and Meskwaki, or Fox, tribes.
