The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut won't be building a commercial casino in Massachusetts. According to news reports, members of the Massachusetts Gaming Commission voted 3-1 against the $1 billion $1 billion Mohegan Sun Massachusetts near Boston. They instead went with a rival project from Wynn Resorts, a company owned by billionaire Steve Wynn. The tribe had been looking to Massachusetts as gaming revenues at the Mohegan Sun continue to fall. But the tribe was dealt a setback when voters rejected plans for a casino in the western part of the state. The tribe then turned its eyes to the eastern part of the state.
