A non-Indian gaming facility in New York City is the highest-grossing casino in the United States, The New York Times reports.

The Resorts World New York saw a net win of $792.6 million in the fiscal year that ended in March 2014, according to a report from the New York State Gaming Commission. Some $348.7 million of that went to education programs in the state.

“Amazing numbers,” an analyst whose firm works with the Genting Group, the Malaysian company that runs the facility, told the Times.

Genting is now pursuing a second commercial casino in the state. The $1.5 billion proposal is the closest to New York City and it has raised concerns about the firm's potential to control a lucrative gaming market.

“How many licenses are they going to give to one company?” a rival gaming developer told the paper.

Genting’s chairman is also part of yet another casino bid in the same region through a family trust, the Times reported.
