The Mohegan Tribe still plans to promote its casino in Connecticut even if it wins approval for a commercial facility in neighboring Massachusetts.

The tribe wants to open $1 billion Mohegan Sun Massachusetts in Revere. The site is more than 100 miles from the Mohegan Sun on the reservation in Connecticut.

According to The Boston Globe, a confidential marketing agreement allows the tribe to promote its Connecticut casino in the greater Boston area so long as offers are no better than the ones for the Revere facility. There are no restrictions outside the Boston area, the paper said.

The tribe is competing for the commercial gaming license in eastern Massachusetts. The only other bidder for the region is Wynn Resorts, a company owned by billionaire Steve Wynn.

Wynn has argued that the tribe will only use a Massachusetts facility to lure big spenders to Connecticut.
