Patrons of the casino owned by the Lac du Flambeau Band of Wisconsin would visit more often if the facility went smoke-free, according to the results of a new poll.

The tribe partnered with the Great Lakes Inter–Tribal Council to survey about 1,000 players club members at the Lake of the Torches Resort Casino. Overall, more than 75 percent of patrons said they don't smoke and more than two-thirds said smoking bothers them.

When asked whether going smoke-free would change their gambling habits, 54 percent said they would visit the casino more often. Only about 20 percent said they would go less.

The survey was the first of its kind at a tribal gaming facility in Wisconsin.
