The Mohegan Tribe of Connecticut is facing a crucial decision that will affect its proposal for a commercial casino in Massachusetts. Voters in Revere approved a host agreement for the $1.3 billion Mohegan Sun Massachusetts. However, the city of Boston also wants to be considered a host community, meaning the project could face another referendum. Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority CEO Mitchell Etess met with Boston Mayor Marty Walsh on Wednesday to discuss the issue. The two sides weren't able to reach an agreement. "Ultimately we were unable to agree on Boston's status as a host or surrounding community," Etess said in a statement, the Associated Press reported. "We do, however, remain committed to continuing the discussions and reaching a mutually beneficial agreement with the city." The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is meeting today to consider Boston's request. The decision will affect the Mohegans and Wynn Resorts, whose billionaire owner Steve Wynn is competing for the commercial casino license in the eastern part of the state. Get the Story:
