The Catawba Nation of South Carolina is seeing opposition to its proposed casino in North Carolina.

The Kings Mountain Community Awareness Group has been holding meetings to discuss the $600 million casino. Opponents question whether the project will benefit the community.

The mayor of King Mountain, however, supports the casino. So do officials in Cleveland County.

The tribe has submitted a land-into-trust application for the 16-acre casino site to the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
