Residents and officials in Little Rock, Arkansas, are debating the merits of a potential casino from the Quapaw Tribe of Oklahoma.

The tribe recently acquired 160 acres within its historic reservation in Arkansas. There are no plans for a casino but Chairman John Berrey suggested it might be an option.

"I would welcome a casino coming here. I don't see a problem with it because it would bring jobs and money to the economy," resident John Smith told KARK.

"If people want to gamble, they are going to find a way to gamble, that's not an issue. But from an economic standpoint of what we are trying to do here, I would have those concerns," Judge Buddy Villines of Pulaski County said.

The site is near the Bill and Hillary Clinton National Airport. That's more than 280 miles from the tribe's Downstream Casino Resort.
