Tribal Internet Gaming Alliance sees support from global leader

The Tribal Internet Gaming Alliance has been recognized by the government of the Isle of Man, a leader in Internet gaming.

TIGA is encouraging tribes and Alaska Native villages to get into the Internet gaming industry. The first two members are the Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the Bad River Band of Lake Superior Tribe.

“We understand that the Tribal Internet Gaming Alliance (TIGA) is an inter-governmental treaty organization of sovereign tribes, capable of exercising certain delegated governmental powers on behalf of each member tribe," Peter Greenhill, the CEO of e-Gaming for the Isle of Man, said in a letter. "As such, we would be pleased to engage with TIGA to facilitate the opportunity for TIGA and the Isle of Man jurisdiction to negotiate, enter and/or establish inter-jurisdictional agreements for mutual benefit."

Federal law bars Internet gaming unless it is conducted under a Class III gaming compact or under state law.
