Navajo Nation submits new version of Class III casino pact

The Navajo Nation and New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez (R) submitted a new Class III gaming compact to state lawmakers.

The deal authorizes up to five Class III casinos. But it imposes a timeline -- the tribe can't open its next one until 2019 at the earliest and must open the fifth by 2029.

The deal also eliminates a provision affecting Internet gambling. And tribe dropped another provision affecting "free play," The Albuquerque Journal reported.

The tribe currently operates two gaming facilities in New Mexico. Two of them offer Class III games.
