San Carlos Apache Tribe invests $35M in casino projects

The San Carlos Apache Tribe of Arizona is investing $35 million to $40 million in two gaming projects.

The tribe is spending $10 million to renovate the Apache Gold Casino Resort. And the tribe is spending $25 million to $30 million on a new facility, the Apache Sky Casino.

“It’s time,” Gary Murrey, the CEO and general manager for the two facilities, told Indian Country Today. “We need to generate dollars to pay for infrastructure, social programs, and health efforts on the reservation. The sooner we can bring long-term economic stability to the tribe, the better.”

The new casino is expected to open in April 2015.
