The North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians faces a big test later this year when voters in California go to the polls to weigh in on the tribe's off-reservation casino. The tribe cleared numerous federal and state hurdles in its quest for the casino. That could all unravel if voters approve a referendum that was spearheaded by Stand Up for California, a non-Indian group. The North Fork Rancheria has denounced the effort. But two tribes with existing casinos are backing the vote and other tribes say casinos should be restricted to existing reservations. The referendum will be on the ballot in November. Get the Story:
