Gun Lake Tribe sends $8.79M in casino revenue to community

The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians, also known as the Gun Lake Tribe, is sharing a record $8.79 million in gaming revenues in Michigan.

Under its Class III gaming compact, the tribe shares between 8 percent and 12 percent of electronic gaming revenues from the Gun Lake Casino with the state. Another 2 percent is set aside for local communities.

The payments are made twice a year. This fall, $7.1 million went to the state and another $1.68 million went to local communities

“We are proud to announce the Gun Lake Tribe has shared over forty-four million dollars with state and local governments, schools, law enforcement and civic groups,” Chairman D.K. Sprague said in a press release. “February will mark our third anniversary and the future is bright.”

The $8.79 million payment is larger than than fall 2012 payment of $8.6 million, which was the largest payment to date.
