The
MOWA Band of Choctaw
Indians in Alabama may not be on the list of federally recognized tribes but Chief Framon Weaver says his tribe's gaming facility is legal.
The tribe just opened the Choctaw Entertainment Center. It's not located on trust land and the tribe lacks recognition but Weaver says that isn't a problem.
“We are party to the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek of 1830 That treaty provided the Choctaw stay here and they wouldn’t lose their citizenship in Choctaw as a Choctaw,” Weaver told WKRG.
The tribe is offering electronic gaming machines at the facility.
