Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker (R) is taking more time to consider the Menominee Nation off-reservation casino. After the Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the $800 million casino in Kenosha in late August, Walker gave himself 60 days to consider the project. The deadline was today but news reports say he will wait until the end of next week. The delay might give the Menominees more time to talk to the Forest County Potawatomi Tribe and the Ho-Chunk Nation. Both tribes oppose the casino and Walker says all 11 tribes in the state must come to a "consensus" before he approves it. “The package we’re putting together addresses all of the issues, including the perceived negative effects on the other tribes,” Menominee Chairman Craig Corn told The Kenosha News. “We think we have addressed their concerns.” Corn plans to meet with Walker tomorrow.
