County eyes remainder of St. Regis Mohawk Tribe gaming funds

The St. Regis Mohawk Tribe is once again sharing gaming revenues with communities in New York but one county is weighing litigation.

To end an exclusivity dispute with the state, the tribe shared $1.8 million with St. Lawrence County and kept another $1.8 million in escrow pending additional talks. The county plans litigation against the state to make a claim for the remainder.

The tribe agreed to share $30 million in back payments, or about half of what was owed.
