The Menominee Nation says a new poll shows support for its off-reservation casino in Wisconsin. Among voters in southeastern Wisconsin, 53 percent want Gov. Scott Walker (R) to approve the Kenosha Casino. Among Walker supporters, 62 percent favored approval, and among Republicans, 64 percent favored approval. “If this was an election or a referendum, this would indicate you were heading toward a landslide,” Evan Zeppos, a spokesperson for the tribe, told The Kenosha News. The Bureau of Indian Affairs approved the casino under the two-part determination provisions of the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act. The law gives Walker veto approval. Walker has said all 11 tribes in the state must come to a consensus on the proposal before he agrees to it. Opposition from the Forest County Potawatomi Tribe, whose off-reservation casino is about 40 miles from Kenosha, could derail the bid. Get the Story:
