The
Yakama Nation of Washington is making changes at its casino to detect fraudulent activity.
The tribe called in federal authorities after discovering a scam involving an employee at
Legends Casino. Some 42 people, including the employee, have been indicted in connection with a rigged giveaway.
"Even though we may have a blemish on our record now, we're moving forward. We're taking actions to have additional investigators come in to make sure that our incident controls are in place," Chairman Harry Smiskin told KIMA-TV.
The giveaway occurred weekly from February through May and involved prizes of up to $2,500, according to the
indictment.
