No word from Apache Tribe on reopening of gaming facilities

The Apache Tribe of Oklahoma says it is remodeling and renovating its two gaming facilities but there's no official word on a reopening.

The tribe abruptly closed Silver Buffalo Casino and the Golden Eagle Casino late late month and earlier this month. Some 100 people were put out of work without warning.

“None of us employees have gotten anything except the runaround,” Shawn Miller-Williams, a citizen of the Delaware Nation, told The Native American Times.

The Times tried to contact tribal leaders to find out more but didn't get a response. Two rivals -- Donnie Cabaniss and Philip Wetselline -- claim to be in control of the tribe.
