Enterprise Rancheria optimistic with off-reservation casino

The Enterprise Rancheria in California could start work on its off-reservation casino early next year, a spokesperson said.

The tribe cleared a major hurdle when the Bureau of Indian Affairs placed the 40-acre gaming site in trust last month. Litigation from rival tribes, however, is expected to slow the process.

"Worst-case scenario is that it could be a couple of years," spokesperson Charles Altecruse told the Yuba County Alliance for Development., The Marysville/Yuba City Appeal-Democrat reported.

There are other hurdles too. The tribe is still waiting for state and federal approval of its Class III gaming compact.

The tribe also needs to finalize a management contract and secure pre-development financing, Altecruse said.
