A federal judge is weighing arguments in one of the last remaining issues in the Tohono O'odham Nation off-reservation casino lawsuit. On May 7, Judge David Campbell ruled that the Tohono O'odham Nation's Class III gaming compact does not prohibit a casino in the metro Phoenix area. But the state of Arizona, the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community and the Gila River Indian Community argue that the Tohono O'odham Nation promised not to pursue a casino even if the language wasn't included in the compact. Campbell has accepted final briefs on the issue. He could rule within a month, The Arizona Republic reported, based on his prior actions in the case. Get the Story:
