Navajo Nation reports successful opening of Arizona casino

The opening weekend for the Twin Arrows Navajo Casino Resort, the new Navajo Nation gaming facility in Arizona, was successful, an executive said.

More than 2,000 people have been coming to the casino every day, Navajo Nation Gaming Enterprise CEO Derrick Watchman said. The hotel's 90 rooms were completely booked for the Memorial Day holiday, The Navajo Times reported.

The Four Elements eatery is up and running, providing food 24 hours a day. The Reef, a seafood restaurant, is due to open tomorrow.

"I am very happy with the quality of the product we have here," Watchman told the paper.

Going forward, Watchman plans to ask the Navajo Nation Council to expand the sale of liquor at the casino. Currently, liquor is available in restaurants but not on the gaming floor or in the hotel with room service.
