North Fork Rancheria's off-reservation compact due for vote
Tuesday, May 21, 2013
A Class III gaming compact for the North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians in California could get a final vote on Friday, The Sacramento Bee reports.
The compact has been controversial, with opposition coming from tribes with existing gaming facilities. It would authorize an off-reservation casino, a first in the state.
According to the Bee, Station Casinos, the North Fork Rancheria's partner, has spent about $250,000 to lobby lawmakers on the compact and another one for the Federated Indians of
Graton Rancheria that is due to open later this year.
