Eastern Cherokees see boost in casino per capita payment

Members of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians in North Carolina are seeing an increase in their casino per capita payment.

The tribe makes two payments every year. This first payment will be $4,023, up 6 percent from the first payment last year.

The second payment is likely to be higher because the tribe expects to see a boost in revenues thanks to the addition of live card dealers at the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort.

“We are looking at a pretty good increase, double digit increases,” Adele Jacobs-Madden, the director of finance at Harrah’s, told The Smoky Mountain News.
