North Fork Rancheria gaming compact due for final hearing
Wednesday, May 15, 2013
A Class III gaming compact for the
North Fork Rancheria of Mono Indians
gets its final hearing in the California Senate today.
The compact authorizes an off-reservation casino on a 305-acre site in Madera County. It passed the Assembly earlier this month but only with the minimum number of votes.
The
Senate Governmental Organization Committee
will take up the compact at 1:30pm. If the Legislature ratifies the compact, it can be sent to the
Bureau of Indian Affairs
for review.
