Eastern Cherokees draw hundreds to casino for poker tourney

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians drew hundreds to its casino for the World Series of Poker Circuit Event.

The Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort hosted the 12-day tournament for the first time. It came after the tribe signed a Class III gaming compact that authorized live card table dealers.

The event was so successful that the tribe will host it again next year.
