Eastern Cherokees moving forward with plans for $110M casino

The Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians is moving forward with plans for a second casino in North Carolina.

The tribe will spent $110 million on a gaming facility about an hour away from the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino and Resort, The Asheville Citizen-Times reported. Plans call for a 50,000 to 60,000 square-foot casino with a 300-room hotel, the paper said.

Construction could begin this summer, Chief Michell Hicks told the paper.
