Union wants city's support in dispute at Lytton Band casino
Tuesday, April 2, 2013
The city of San Pablo, California, is being urged to support a labor union in a dispute with the Lytton Band of Pomo Indians.
The United Here Local 2850 won a National Labor Relations Board ruling that said the tribe engaged in unfair labor practices at the San Pablo Lytton Casino.
The city, however, says it will stay out of the matter until appeals are resolved.
"It was a weak resolution," union organizer Jessica Medina told The Contra Costa Times. "We want support."
Union members have been working without a contract at the casino for more than three years.
