Tribes in the Tulsa, Oklahoma, area are slowly expanding their gaming enterprises as revenues continue to rise. The Cherokee Nation completed three expansion projects last fall alone. The Muscogee Nation recently announced a $250 million expansion at its Tulsa casino. The Osage Nation is spending about $36 million in upgrades at seven facilities. "We don't just jump out there and do things," Cherokee Nation Businesses CEO Shawn Slaton told The Tulsa World. "We had done our homework and did our studies." The Cherokee Nation provided financial data to the paper that showed a 171 percent increase in profit at just one gaming facility between 2004 and 2012. The Muscogee Nation said revenues at its Tulsa casino have grown 86 percent since 2006. The Osage Nation did not offer data to the paper. Get the Story:
